I'm a finance analyst at ITV, I work within broadcast, specifically within commercial sales, which is the area responsible for basically selling advertising that you watch on TV. I help support the business by providing them with financial information on their budgets, I give them information on specific advertising should they need it and basically just help them with any finance related queries that they have as well. I'm only one part of finance in the sense that there's other finance teams dotted across ITV, so there's the finance team with in studios and there's a finance team based in Manchester as well who do all the accounts payable and account receivable function. Prior to joining ITV I didn't have any media experience, I trained at a large accountancy firm for 4 years where I did my accounting qualification and I practiced in auditing so I went out and audited different companies and then I wanted to get some experience within a business and sort of applied for different companies and thought ITV would give me the best all round experience of just being within a company.

Prior to joining ITV I didn’t have any media experience.

My role here at ITV is diversity manager and what that means is I look at both on-screen and off-screen diversity, so making sure the programmes that we work across are reflective of the audiences that are watching and engaging and entertaining. And also off-screen is to look at our workforce, so making sure, not only at entry point, we get the best talent and that we give that talent the opportunity to influence our business and it's inclusive in their journey here at ITV. Working here at ITV is great fun, it plays to my strengths and my skills-set, my day is very varied, I get to interact with a huge amount of people across our business, it's a great place to grow, it's innovative, it's challenging, it's rewarding, it's enthusiastic, it's brilliant, and to know you work for a huge broadcaster such as ITV, not only broadcasting, but programme making and you can sit at home and know that you have a part to play in that is amazing, it's great.

ITV’s a great place to grow, it’s innovative, it’s challenging, it’s rewarding.

Here at ITV I'm one of three drama commissioners, we commission new drama programmes for the channel and my job in particular is to spear head development of new projects, so what that means is I shepherd projects right from the start of the idea all the way through to production and then each project once it's shooting we divide up so we all take different kind of shows to sort of oversee while they're being made.

I've been in TV for about 19 years and my path to commissioning, I would say quite a classic one in that I started as a script reader, I became a script editor, I did 5 years of script editing, I was a producer, I made programmes for about 5 years and then I became an executive producer and then I became a commissioner, so my background is very much in making programmes and script based work. I feel really strongly that if you're going to do this job you have to know what it's like to make the programmes.

I shepherd projects from the start of the idea all the way through to production.

With so much variety, we're sure we've got the perfect job for you. And to steer you in the right direction, we've put together a quiz to help you find it.
