ITV loves a big deal

Think you could sell advertising space in The X Factor final? Or think up new ideas to boost our revenues? Or make big decisions and create long lasting dialogue in a fast moving team? Then a job in our Commercial team could be right up your street.

With an ever-changing marketplace and loads of new platforms just waiting for you to tap into, selling TV and online advertising has never been such a big deal.

And at the heart of it are our Commercial Teams based in London, Leeds, Manchester, Birmingham and more locations throughout the UK.

They’re responsible for bringing in the £1.9bn worth of advertising that helps fund ITV's programming. But being part of the team is about more than just advertising sales. It’s also about putting our ‘three Cs and a G’ to work in a busy, driven, friendly and inclusive environment that’s on the frontline of technical change as we partner with some of the biggest media agencies in the UK to pitch ideas and get the most from our campaigns.

It’s no wonder that the team picked up a handful of 2017 Media Week Awards - including two silver awards for our partnership with Interflora and Surprise Surprise and for our work with TalkTalk, and a bronze award for our Unwrapping Joy campaign with Cadbury.

Commercial Content

Inside our Commercial Content Team, you’ll find our Trading, Sales Accounts, Business Development and Sponsorship teams. They all work closely with our agencies and brand partners to plan, negotiate, pitch for, and deliver innovative airtime and Sponsorship deals both on TV and through our online platforms. And we’ve also got a dedicated Breakfast sales team selling alongside Good Morning Britain and Lorraine, too.

Product Placement also falls under Commercial Content and allows our partners to strategically place their products next to Holly and Phil on the This Morning sofa, or in Dev’s shop on the famous Corrie cobbles!

Then there’s our ITV AdVentures Team who help bring ad campaigns to life with a combination of brands and talent that offer advertisers even more exciting ways to reach their audiences.

And that brings us to our Licensing team, who make sure that our partners are able to use our branding and images to further maximise the impact of their advertising campaigns.

Creative Works and Commercial Marketing

Based at Grays Inn Road in London, our Creative Works team partners with Sales Accounts and Sponsorship to help us win more business. It’s about understanding what our customers are trying to achieve, developing exciting creative ideas that meet client briefs, and helping the teams to pitch their ideas with compelling stories and exciting presentations.

The team also creates the commercial stories and presentations for larger shows like Coronation Street, Britain’s Got Talent and I'm a Celebrity...Get Me Out of Here!, when we take them out to market to find sponsors and partners.

It’s a bit like having an internal agency – and there’s also a marketing function who focus on raising our profile, driving our reputation, and delivering brilliant initiatives like the industry-leading ITV (Upfronts) Gala, Regional Showcase and our sponsorship of Advertising Week Europe.

Sales Operations

Our London based Sales Operations Team primarily focuses on maximising revenue wherever possible by making sure that airtime deals are delivered as agreed across our family of channels and also on our online platforms.

It’s also about forecasting and reporting on our ratings during ad breaks, providing key facts and figures for our sales teams when pitching to new brands, and making sure that we deliver on our agreements, in line with Ofcom guidelines.

Business Development (Nations and Regions)

Business Development (Nations & Regions) is comprised of a network of 9 regional commercial teams based across the UK outside London. There’s a regional HQ in MediaCityUK (Salford), along with teams in Leeds, Great North (Gateshead and Carlisle), Birmingham, Wales & West (Bristol and Cardiff), Belfast, Southampton (Whiteley), Norwich and Channel Islands (Jersey and Guernsey).

The challenge is to manage everything from airtime to trading deals and partnerships, and it comes with the freedom to explore new ideas to drive revenue growth, and the chance to develop award-winning, successful partnerships with brands. All of which means there are loads of exciting opportunities in Business Development, Partnerships, Trading and Activation.
