Legal Business Award winners

The Governance, Information and Legal team has been honoured with a win at the Legal Business Awards.

Last years's Legal Social Mobility Partnership programme participants visites Twickenham Stoop, home of English rugby union team, The Harlequins.

Hosted by the UK’s former Chief Press Secretary and Communications Strategist, Alastair Campbell, ITV’s Governance, Information and Legal (GIL) team brought home the award win for Corporate Social Responsibility Programme of the Year at the Legal Business Awards in 2016.

The team won the award for the Legal Social Mobility Partnership (LSMP), a programme ITV set up in 2014. Led by Andrew Garard, Group Legal Director and Company Secretary, and Barry Matthews, Director of Legal Affairs & Third Party Sales, the programme was set up because we recognise that if you’re thinking of a career in law, it doesn’t matter what your background is. The programme helps students find work experience at some of the UK’s most prestigious companies, including Adidas, Aston Martin, and Barclays bank, and provides them with on-going mentoring after the training is over.

LSMP was up against five major international law firm programmes in the UK, for projects ranging from global pro bono legal work, to social impact finance assistance. The win is great recognition for the hard work and support of ITV colleagues across the business who have offered their time and skills. Andrew Garard and Julia Stephenson, Legal Advisor, went along to the ceremony and collected the award on behalf of ITV.

As a major employer within the media, we have the opportunity to positively influence and impact our industry and the communities where we work. Our Responsibility strategy focuses on three pillars; People, Planet and Partnerships. Through programmes like the LSMP, we’re able to build strong partnerships with other businesses and within the community, to make a positive difference at regional, national and international level.
