Starting on Monday 30th September 2024, you could be one of twelve talented journalists joining us across the country. You might find yourself in:

  • one of our regional newsrooms – ITV Anglia in Norwich, ITV Central in Birmingham, ITV Granada in Salford, ITV Meridian (Whiteley Nr Southampton); ITV Tyne Tees & Border (Gateshead, nr Newcastle), ITV West Country in Bristol, or ITV Yorkshire in Leeds. Two trainees will join us in our national newsrooms, ITV Cymru Wales in Cardiff and UTV in Belfast.

During the scheme, your salary will be between £27 - £29k per year, and you’ll have 5 weeks paid annual leave pro-rata, plus public holidays. And although there’s no guarantees of continued employment once the 9 months are over, many of our trainees graduating from the programme have secured permanent roles across our regional, national and international news teams, both in front and behind the camera and ITV more widely. So with an original perspective, big ideas for fresh stories, and an even bigger ambition to build your skills in a workplace that’s set to both challenge and support you, this traineeship could be the start of a long and incredible news career – where that unique perspective will help you share fresh and diverse stories with the world.

The ITV News Traineeship is an opportunity for anyone looking to start their career in news who will be over the age of 18 by 30th September 2024. We’re looking for talented and enthusiastic people committed to a career in journalism, either through their writing, work experience, academic choices or their career so far. And we’re particularly keen to hear from those from Black, Asian and minority ethnic backgrounds, disabled people, and those from lower socio economic groups – as we recognise that individuals from these groups are currently underrepresented in our industry.
